Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a (Senior) Corporate Counsel and contribute to the development of implementing best practices in data privacy for Renesas.  This role lets you showcase your expertise in providing expert legal advice relating to data privacy and protection requirements, designing our precedents, contributing to our sustainability reporting, negotiating contract terms and collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee and enforce Renesas' global data privacy policies, practices, and guidance, ensuring strict compliance with applicable legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate strategically with key stakeholders, particularly the Information Security Division, to integrate critical data privacy considerations into corporate strategy, products, and services.
  • Address data privacy enquiries with utmost diligence, including data subject rights requests, and conduct thorough reviews of customer or vendor contracts with data privacy terms.
  • Vigilantly monitor global trends in data privacy, recommend robust approaches, and contribute significantly to Privacy by Design initiatives across the organisation.

 

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister with exemplary academic credentials and comprehensive knowledge of data privacy, data handling, and classification protocols
  • Substantial experience in managing complex data privacy issues for a multinational organisation
  • Profound expertise in global and European data protection laws, with particular emphasis on in-depth understanding of GDPR and its implications
  • Demonstrated capability to conduct rigorous data privacy compliance reviews and audits
  • Exceptional analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Superior communication skills and proven ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders across all levels of the business
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and online research tools
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, adhere to stringent deadlines, and manage a diverse caseload independently
  • Strong collaborative skills with the capacity to work autonomously when circumstances demand
