Our client is an independent international school that is well-recognised as one of the world’s most innovative and cutting-edge institutions.
Primary role and responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Business Administration, the appointee will head and lead the Human Resources department and be responsible for:
Overseeing full spectrum of human resources matters, developing and implementing strategies and initiatives aligned with the School's mission and vision;
Supporting and partnering with senior management and academic leaders in driving human resources initiatives to strengthen the School’s capacity to attract, develop and retain talents internationally and locally;
Championing and formulating strategies in talent acquisition and management, performance and reward management, employee engagement and organisation effectiveness;
Establishing best practice HR policies and procedures that promote fairness, diversity, and inclusion;
Developing and implementing employee engagement programs, including designing recognition initiatives, organising team-building activities and employee surveys;
Overseeing the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring a smooth assimilation into the School's culture and work environment;
Overseeing an effective offboarding process;
Managing immigration and work permit processes for international staff, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
Providing guidance to staff on international assignment policies, expatriate benefits, and cross-cultural issues;
Promoting a positive and inclusive work culture that fosters employee engagement and satisfaction;
Collaborating with Marketing and Communications department, implementing employer branding strategies to enhance the School's reputation as an employer of choice in the education sector;
Fostering positive relationships with external partners, such as universities, professional organizations, and professional firms to strengthen the School's reputation;
Maintaining professional network in the education industry and beyond including staying updated on international HR trends and practices to ensure competitiveness and alignment with industry standards;
Managing the contract staff workforce in security, janitorial, maintenance, etc.
Candidate requirements
The candidate should possess the following attributes:
Be driven, progressive thinker, have a strong network, customer service centric and technologically savvy;
Has an eye for detail and prepared to “roll up sleeves” and “get hands dirty”;
First-rate professional human resources background; relevant educational and professional qualifications;
At least ten years’ experience (five years at a senior level) in human resources management;
A macro understanding of the employment conditions and full spectrum of human resources best practices, with an emphasis on remuneration strategies and their relevant legal requirements;
An ability to plan strategically and handle complex issues and organisational cultural changes tactfully in a multi-function environment;
Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders across different levels;
Good command of English is essential, ability to speak Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) is a strong advantage;
Analytical with strong business acumen and problem-solving skills;
A passion for education is fundamental.
