Behavior Support Specialists

Provide direct support to students: take students for a walk, a break, for a social skills group or intervention. Work with individual students or groups of students on social emotional learning tasks. Provide behavior check-ins with students and/or teachers. Engage in problem solving with the teacher. Collaborate with other professionals to support students. Participate in MTSS meetings when requested. Develop a tracking log to document students receiving support in the Behavior Intervention Center. Provide crisis management with other support team members. Establish and oversee a behavior intervention center to include reflection, restorative conferencing, and sensory supports. Assist other staff in the management of student behavior when requested. Collaborate to develop and implement behavior intervention plans for individual students. Interpret and share information about students with the teacher and administrator, as necessary. Assist the Tier 1 Team in implementing school-wide incentives, celebrations, and/or practices. SALARY:
Teaching Assistant salary per WEA Contract of agreement plus $10,000 extra duty stipend

NYS Teaching Assistant III Certification Minimum 5-years’ experience as a Teaching Assistant TCIS trained with physical restraint or willingness to be trained. Previous experience with restorative practices preferred. Previous experience with behavior intervention preferred.
